SERVICE E-PASSPORT 2006

The new service passport is designed to comply with the EU requirements and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recommendations. The passport contains 32 numbered pages plus a polycarbonate personal identification page with data, photo and signature engraved by laser engravers.

Passport contains texts in the Lithuanian, English and French languages.

28 August, 2006 marks the beginning of electronic personalisation of biometric personal data into the Service Passports of the Republic of Lithuania

Sticker with electronic medium

A sticker with electronic medium (eSticker) contains a contactless integrated circuit with antenna associated to it. Data is personalized into an electronic medium during the process of Passport personalization. Data are protected by implementing the Passive Authentication and Basic Access Control mechanism. The electronic medium is personalized with a biometric identifier – a digital facial image and other relevant Passport data.

An eSticker is integrated into the title page (the reverse of data page). An eSticker contains security elements.

Data page

The polycarbonate data page. The legend is pre-printed.

Laser engraving
The bearer's image, signature and personal data are laser engraved.

Rainbow printing
Security grids printed in rainbow. One of the colours fluoresces under UV light.

TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES

Kinegramm
A transparent diffractive optical device with kinematical effect (the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Lithuania, words "LIETUVOS RESPUBLIKA" and stars) partially covering the picture.

Special line arrangement
The guilloche stripes are formed by using double lines differing in thickness.

Micro Lettering
The repeating micro lettering: positive – "LIETUVOS RESPUBLIKA", negative – "LTU"”.

Optically variable inks
An optically variable image (OVI) changes colour when viewed at different angles.

Ultraviolet inks
The invisible contour of Lithuania with the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Lithuania incorporated fluoresces under UV light.

Lamination
The laminate with embossing is layered onto the page.

INSIDE PAGES

Paper
Visible small red fibers fluoresce under UV light and invisible fibers fluoresce green and red under UV light.

Rainbow printing
All pages are covered by security grids printed in rainbow. One of the colours fluoresce under UV light.

Watermark
Positioned multi-shade watermark of the „Vytis”. Watermarked page numbers.

Passport number
Laser perforated passport number with conical holes through all inside pages and the back cover.

Coat of Arms
The Coat of Arms of the Republic of Lithuania is surrounded by the Coat of Arms of the towns (which are different on every page).

Special line arrangement

Binding thread
The three-coloured binding thread fluoresce red and yellow under UV.

Micro Lettering
The repeating micro lettering: positive – "LIETUVOS RESPUBLIKA", negative – "LTU".

Security thread
The security thread contains reversed and unturned micro lettering: „LIETUVOS RESPUBLIKA”, and fluoresce red, green and yellow under UV.

Ultraviolet inks
The invisible "Wind rose", the Coat of Arms of the Lithuanian towns, circles and page number fluoresce red under UV light.
