Police officer's Identification Card 2016

Since 2016 March 1 Identity Documents Personalisation Centre under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania has started issuing new Police officer's Identification Card.

The Police officer's Identification Card has been created using modern technologies and the most advanced security measures. In the polycarbonate layer of the card, personal data, a photo and a signature are recorded using laser engraving equipment.

The Police officer's Identification Card is a document confirming the identity of a person and that the person to whom it has been issued holds a position in the statutory institution of internal affairs (except for the Police Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania and its subordinate police institution). The Police officer's Identification Card enables the official to sign electronic documents with a secure electronic signature, as well as to state information systems, state and departmental registers to identify the official by connecting to these systems and registers, sending data via secure state data transmission network and public data transmission networks.

Photo
A digital photograph of an officer is engraved with a laser.

Contactless electronic media
The unique number of the non-contact electronic medium shall be recorded on the non-contact electronic medium; other non-contact electronic storage memory is intended for use in access control and other control systems.

Contact electronic media
Certificate for the official electronic identification and qualified certificate for electronic signature are recorded in the contact electronic media.
